Quietly Stormy was inspired by the feeling of standing on a windswept mountain under a sky that feels alive with movement. I remember that climb I made to the top of a twelver.
There’s tension in that moment. The air is restless. The sky is shifting. And yet, internally, everything feels calm—almost grounded in a deeper way.
That contrast became the centre of this painting.
I approached it through layered brushwork and subtle tonal shifts, allowing the sky to carry movement without becoming chaotic. The goal wasn’t drama—it was presence.
