There is something quietly magical about the moss-covered forests of British Columbia. They feel ancient and sacred, as though time moves more slowly beneath their canopy.
This piece was inspired by a trip to Victoria in the spring of 2025—a place that stayed with me long after I returned. The memory of those moss-laden trunks, rich with texture and depth, became something I felt compelled to return to through paint.
Using a palette knife, I built up the surface to give the moss a tactile presence. It wasn’t enough to capture how it looked—it needed to be felt.
