Hey there

My name is Shalin Thomas. Alpine Originals is my little creative nook, featuring original acrylic paintings inspired by mountain landscapes and time spent in nature around Calgary. My hometown is surrounded by countless parks and urban escapes—places that feel like a world apart and offer endless inspiration. There is so much beauty here, and so much I want to share.

I work with palette knives as well as brushes because I love texture, but also like an element of realism. Each painting is an original interpretation of a place, a moment, or a feeling drawn from the natural world.

Through my blog here as well as my Instagram and YouTube channels, I also share my creative process and the inspiration behind my work. I love the journey of creation just as much—if not more—than the finished piece. There’s something magical about how a few colours and simple tools can express what words often cannot.
